Daniel W. Munley is a personal injury attorney with decades of experience representing victims of serious motor vehicle accidents and their families. Recognized nationally as a leader in truck accident and rideshare accident litigation, Dan has obtained numerous multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements throughout his career. Notable results include a record-breaking $26 million truck accident settlement in Northeastern Pennsylvania — the largest on record in the region for an individual plaintiff — and a $20 million recovery in 2024 for a client who suffered life-altering injuries in a commercial vehicle accident.
Dan is one of a small number of attorneys in the United States to hold triple board certification from the National Board of Trial Advocacy, covering Civil Trial Law, Civil Practice Advocacy, and Truck Accident Law. He is also certified by the Association of Interstate Trucking Lawyers of America and is a charter member and Executive Board member of the American Association for Justice Trucking Litigation Group, where he served as Chair from 2011 to 2012. He received the AAJ Trucking Litigation Group's Ring of Honor Award for his contributions to the group and to highway safety, and in 2020 received the Robert W. Munley Champion of Justice Award from the same organization. He also serves on the Board of Regents for the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys.
Beyond his caseload, Dan regularly presents truck accident trial techniques at conferences across the country, helping other attorneys develop their approach to tractor-trailer crash litigation.
Listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2013, Dan was named the 2020 "Lawyer of the Year" for Product Liability Litigation–Plaintiffs. He has appeared in the Lawdragon 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers guide every year since 2020. A Pennsylvania Super Lawyer, he holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, has been named a Platinum-Level Client Champion, and was recognized as one of the Top Ten Trucking Trial Lawyers in Pennsylvania by the National Trial Lawyers Association.
Dan is also active in the Scranton community, having served as a board member for the Everhart Museum and coaching youth baseball, basketball, and softball. He and his wife, Valerie Munley, have three children. Dan earned his law degree from the University of Tulsa College of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton.
