Attorney Corey J. Kolcharno is currently a partner in the firm Fanucci & Kolcharno Law Offices specializing in all areas of criminal defense both in State and Federal Courts. As a former Assistant District Attorney of Lackawanna County for nearly ten (10) years, Attorney Kolcharno utilizes his vast knowledge of criminal law and procedure to ensure each of his client’s cases obtain fair, just and optimum results. In addition, Attorney Kolcharno handles a variety of matters stemming from a criminal arrest, indictment or citation such as expungements, driver’s licenses issues, employment termination, school expulsions, parole/probation violations, Protection from Abuse (PFA) violations and landlord/tenant evictions among other areas. He has represented clients extensively throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania in the following counties: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Wayne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Bradford, Lehigh, Carbon and Philadelphia. Mr. Kolcharno received his B.A. in History with a minor in Political Science from King’s College in 1997 and graduated cum laude from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in 2000 in Lansing, Michigan. While in law school, he completed an internship at the 60 Plus Elder Law Clinic, which provided free legal services to the elderly population in the greater Lansing area. In addition, he completed an internship in the Saginaw County Public Defender’s Office in Ann Arbor, Michigan, whereby he represented indigent clients. Prior to entering law school he worked as a legal assistant to the now Honorable President Judge Thomas J. Munley of the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County.
Mr. Kolcharno was sworn into the Pennsylvania Bar in 2001 and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He joined the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office in 2003 and served as the Chief Prosecutor for the Arson Unit. In addition he was instrumental in the investigation and prosecution of a variety of crimes including: D. U. I., Homicide by Motor Vehicle and other felony offenses such as murder, robberies, aggravated assaults and drug related offenses.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania District Attorney's Association, the Pennsylvania DUI Association and a former Board Member and 2004 graduate of Leadership Lackawanna. He was selected by Pennsylvania Super Lawyer’s Magazine as a member of its Rising Stars 2008. He has served as the Chairperson for the ITT Advisory Board for the Criminal Justice Department. Likewise, he is a member of the Lackawanna County Bar Association and the Juvenile Defender’s Association of Pennsylvania. He has been a lecturer, guest speaker and instructor for numerous criminal law agencies on topics such as individual rights, criminal procedure, the court systems, fire investigation and other law-related areas. He currently serves as an adjunct instructor at the Lackawanna Police Academy Act 120 Program
