Vincent Rubino, Esq. was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was known as “Vinnie” for his first twenty-five years. Attorney Rubino’s family moved to a lower-income neighborhood in Brentwood, Long Island, N.Y. when he was entering fifth grade. After graduating from public schools, from elementary school through college at the State University of New York at Albany, which was all he could afford with loans, scholarships and grants, Attorney Rubino attended Hofstra Law School in Hempstead. N.Y. After law school Vince entertained job offers from firms in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut before deciding to become a small-town lawyer, accepting the lowest-paying job he was offered, in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Upon arriving in Stroudsburg, Attorney Rubino was re-christened “Vince” by the partners in the firm with which he remains, Newman Williams. A partner since 1995, Vince decided to retain his new name, and looks forward to in the future renaming at least one young associate with his firm.
Vince began his legal career representing developers of large real estate projects in the Poconos, businesses in complicated transactions, nonprofit corporations, and countless new homeowners in their quest to start a new life in the Poconos. In the early 1990s, Vince began to notice a trend in the local real estate market whereby unsuspecting families intending to move from New York or New Jersey were being sold home construction packages which they could not afford or which were likely to result in them owning a home worth considerably less than the mortgage debt. Fulfilling his ethical obligations, Vince began suggesting to prospective clients that they consider purchasing an existing home rather than building a new home, raising the ire of some of those making a living utilizing questionable practices. Vince alerted the local newspaper to the problem, which resulted in a series of Pocono Record articles delving into the unfair tactics of some new home contractors in the Poconos.
Recognizing that his referral base for residential real estate closings would likely be drying up, in the mid-nineties Vince devoted his practice completely to helping Pocono residents find solutions to their financial problems. In addition to having successfully represented over 6,000 individuals, married couples and businesses in bankruptcy cases, Vince has helped countless others alleviate their financial problems without the need for bankruptcy. Vince has lectured to his fellow attorneys on bankruptcy matters on dozens of occasions in Hershey, Harrisburg, Grantville, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton and Stroudsburg, as well as to numerous civic and professional organizations. If you ask an attorney, public official or businessperson in the Poconos who they should speak with to learn information about bankruptcy, chances are the answer will be “Vince Rubino”.
Vince has been happily married to Julie Lynn Rubino, an East Stroudsburg School District elementary teacher, since 1994, and is the proud father of a son and a daughter who attended public school in the Stroudsburg Area School District. Other than striving to be a wonderful husband and father, nothing makes Vince happier than helping a single mother, divorced dad, senior citizen, or family struggling to make ends meet find a solution to their financial problems. Former clients of Vince will tell you that he is easy to talk to, very responsive, honest, and understands the problems you are facing. Moreover, he knows his stuff. You will leave your initial consultation feeling more at ease, with a full understanding of your options. Vince will use his vast experience to recommend the best financial solution for you.
