Youthful Indiscretion

Everyone does dumb things; some are just dumber than others. I contacted Paul because he was a lawyer in my area who had knowledge of both PA and NJ DUI laws. As fate would have it, my choices one autumn night let me to a situation where I required an expert in that field. The problem with irrespo...nsible decisions is that you may not realize the consequences until the dagger has already fallen. The first step in addressing your DUI issue is to realize that there is no one else to blame in your situation but yourself. You made the choice that led to your predicament and you must suffer the consequences. Admit you were wrong, accept the punishment and move on. Paul told me as much and more when I had my first consultation with him and highlighted the fact that even though I didn't have a drinking problem, I apparently have problems when I drink. Paul laid it out straight that in this day and age there are mandatory minimum penalties that accompany such arrests. There is no such thing as 'getting away with it' unless the police really messed up. And when it comes to DUI/DWI, police tend to be mercilessly thorough. Upon receiving the discovery from the police department, Paul made sure I understood what the consequences would be if I accepted the minimums or tried to fight the case. He maintained that I could fight it but it would take time and money and would not necessarily guarantee a successful outcome. He offered an honest assessment that I had little to no ground to stand on given my situation. I trusted his advice and accepted the situation for what it was and decided to move on with my life. At the end of the case, my penalties included some costly fines, court costs, as well as stringent requirements for interlock devices and license suspensions for set periods; mandatory minimums given the offense. The outcome resulted in three of four charges from that night being dropped and the absolute minimum penalties that accompanied the most heinous charge. I learned some valuable lessons that hurt my pride and pocket, but most of all my integrity. Paul helped me through this dreadful process with a candor and commitment that helped to make a terrible situation a little more bearable.

Crook. Stereotypical attorney.

He’s a crook, I don’t know what he charges now, but I know 15 years ago he just took $2500 bucks off me, and didn’t do anything. He’s literally the reason I don’t trust attorneys anymore.

Not an experienced DUI Attorney

I feel i should give a real review. Its up to you if you hire Paul Aaroe . First, I take full responsibility because i was guilty . I thought hiring an attorney could minimize the penalties . Im taking the time to write this review because if i can help you from wasting your money on this lawyer the...n I feel it was worth the investment . Paul's lack of knowledge in the field of DUi almost made me end up in jail . When you get a DUi the arresting officer will add a bunch of additional tickets that had nothing to do with the stop . The officer already knows most if not all the tickets will be thrown out all they want is the DUI to stick . The only thing Paul can do for you is get those tickets dismissed a public defender can do that for you . In your first appearance he will tell you cant win and will tell you to plead guilty to the DUI and he will have all the other tickets dismissed . That's his game plan and he will stick to it . He will take your money and lie to you until you plead guilty . I've paid a heavy. Price please if you need a DUi attorney dont hire Paul Aaroe . You can do better . I promise you .

Nightmare

Hired Mr Aaroe in January 2018 to represent me after a 2nd DUI, highest rate of alcohol. Don't be fooled by the (probably fake) positive reviews, there's just about a 0% chance of getting a favorable outcome from a 2nd DUI in Northampton county, no matter who you hire as a lawyer. You either apply (...if eligible) for the Alternate Sentencing Program that they offer, or you fight your case and lose. It's not fair or just, but it's the way it is in Northampton county. If you really want to get anywhere you have to take your case to the higher courts which is very expensive. I wish I knew all of this at the time, instead I paid Mr Aaroe more money to fight my case. (Big mistake) Because of the questionable circumstances of my arrest, we were hoping they would either drop my case completely or offer to lower me down to the second tier rate blood alcohol level (a much lesser sentence). Of course I knew that nothing was guaranteed. Mr Aaroe told me there was at least a 50/50 chance, and if we lose he was confident he could get me immediate work release. Because of that, it sounded like it was worth taking a shot. We lost the motion, but that's not why I'm giving Mr Aaroe an unfavorable review. On my court date, the judge did grant me immediate work release. However, a box was not checked on the paperwork. Mr Aaroe didn't catch this critical mistake until several days later. He then emails me a letter from the judge, which I thought meant that he corrected the error. (Mr Aaroe always communicates through short, vague, impersonal emails) So I report to Northampton County Prison on my commit date, thinking everything was in order, and I'll be going to the work release program. This was not the case...the letter that the judge sent back did not say the right thing. I wound up in a Northampton County Prison cell block and spent the whole 90 days there. Mr Aaroe was unable to do anything to get the mistakes corrected and have me moved to the work release facility where I was supposed to be. I spent all that money on a lawyer just to end up with a worst outcome then if I didn't hire anyone at all. The fact is, Mr Aaroe was in a huge rush on my court date. (he was always in a rush) He should have been more thorough and looked over the paperwork immediately after the judge sentenced me. I should have at least gotten that much from him. The only positive thing I can say about the Aaroe law office is their secretary was very helpful and responsive. She even responded to one of my questions while she was on vacation. I wasn't going to take the time to write a review for this guy because I'm trying to put all this in the past. But I can't help but think back to how I was fooled by so many of the good reviews for him online. (They now seem very fishy to me) I hope that sharing my experience can help others facing the uncertainties after a DUI charge. You made a mistake by deciding to drink and drive, don't make another one by choosing Aaroe law.

stay away

If you want to spend $1,500 for absolutely nothing, hire this guy. He was late to court(yes it was snowing, but a heads up would have been nice), only stayed for about three minutes because he had to be somewhere else, and didn't even sign the necessary paperwork. I emailed him multiple times after... the fact to see if anything else was required from me to have this expunged from my record and he never responded. Waste of money!

This client obviously would be disgruntled regardless of the outcome. Clearly, I made sure that everything went well for him and he was successfully admitted to the ARD program. If he didn't get a response from the email, maybe it went into spam and he should have called the office? The funny thing is, his expungement process would've been explained to him at our first consultation before even paid me any money. I go into all the details of the process and give all the information at the initial conference - FREE! It's only after the conference that the client decides whether they wish me to attend there are three court appearances and help them through the ARD process to ensure that they don't have a criminal record until they turn 70! Read further down in the comments and you will see what normal people do and say when someone helps them achieve their goals!
