Catch 22

Hired for divorce and custody. Divorce proceedings lasted nearly ten years and I ended up having to pay thousands to him and also had to settle with a bankruptcy and my gold digging and unfaithful ex-wife getting thousands of dollars. Now I’m fighting for my kids because that wasn’t included in divor...ce action and there was no suggestions to address both at same time. Another reviewer shares our story of neglect and harm to young ones with no help. This has been dragging on now for almost four years. Tells us we don’t want trial but continues to not put foot down in conferences or even bring up the concerns, which leads to more conferences. And of course more money that has to be paid. We’re doing everything we’re told. The ex isn’t. She has no problem lying either. And for some reason, the truth goes without being said even though there is documented proof. It doesn’t even get presented to the conciliator. Was told conciliator doesn’t care about that stuff and that stuff is more for court. But “we don’t want to end up in trial”. Had three custody conferences in less than a year because I’m fighting for my kids and she keeps diverting and getting away with noncompliance with the Court order for counseling. Have to keep paying retainers before a new conference can get scheduled. But if the conciliator knew everything the first time and both the attorney and conciliator demanded truth, might have saved a lot of money and time. We still have hope and are patiently doing our best to create a very clear picture of what the reality is for us and our kids, not just the lies being told. We’re hoping at our fourth conference, if it is scheduled on time, that evidence of what is really occurring will be received objectively and seen for what it is, and that our attorney will advocate for us and the truth everyone else can see outside of these hearings.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
