i had the misfortune of hiring this person back in 1992/1993. He completed the paperwork & filed it, but didn't show up for my bankruptcy hearing (this was back before everyone had access to a cellphone) I had to sit through the days hearings while they kept pushing my hearing to a later and later t...ime in the day. during breaks, I used a payphone to call his office & leave messages throughout the day. The following day he had not returned any of my calls so I left a message on the voice mails of every one of the other lawyers in his firm stating what had happened. The senior partner finally called me back & I explained my frustration & disappointment. he agreed to refund me a portion of the money I had paid. later that day Mr. Portman called me and said that he didn't show because I should have paid him more money. ( I paid the rate that was agreed upon at our initial meeting).
