I never wanted a divorce but did many things to bring it about. From my first meeting with Tim, at a time of hopelessness and despair, I felt a sense of confidence that I was and would be well represented. He explained the entire system to me in that first meeting, and everything he told me proved ...to be accurate. I had few equities in my favor, but that never deterred Tim from providing faithful and, when necessary, spirited representation in response to my wife's attorney, who is herself known for her aggressiveness in representing wives. He counseled me to fight over what was worth fighting over and to concede what was unwinnable, but even then not without a concession from the other side. He trusted me on financial matters and did his best not to run up the bill. He expressed empathy for me even when my position was not sympathetic. In our meetings and phone calls, he got down to business and didn't waste time, but he never failed to spend time when necessary to get things right. I am an attorney myself, but a modestly paid government attorney. I understand the law and the system, and Tim Colgan did the very best job possible in my case, given the facts he had to work with and the system he had to work in. As a result, I came through a late-in-life divorce with a sense of dignity and the knowledge that I (and my ex-wife as well) will have enough to live on.
