I was born and raised in Middletown, PA. During high school, I played soccer, participated in the Woodworking Club, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, and tutored middle school students. I was also employed part-time as a dishwasher at Eat’N’Park.
I am a 2007 cum laude graduate of Elizabethtown College. During college, I was president of the College Republicans of Elizabethtown, was a peer mentor, and regularly played intramural sports. During college I studied at the Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, England. The Herstmonceux Castle is a castle that dates to the 1440s and has two (2) friendly ghosts. During college I interned with the Pennsylvania State Senate Republican Policy Development and Research Office and the successful Mike Folmer for State Senate Campaign.
I am a 2010 cum laude graduate of Widener University School of Law (Harrisburg). While at Widener, I was a member of the Mock Trial team and was a two (2) time semi-finalist of the Hugh B. Pierce Mock Trial Tournament. During law school I interned for the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General in the Legislative Affairs Unit. I also interned with the Lebanon County District Attorney’s Office. I also worked for the Honorable Richard A. Lewis of the Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas where he participated in the “Bonusgate” trial which resulted of the conviction of former State Representative Mike Veon.
Following law school, I was admitted to practice law in October 2010. I began work as a law clerk to the Honorable Angela R. Krom of the Franklin/Fulton County Court of Common Pleas. As a law clerk, I assisted Judge Krom in ruling on motions, petitions, briefs and other pleadings.
After my tenure with Judge Krom, I worked for a private law firm in Lemoyne where he was a general practitioner with an emphasis on criminal defense, municipal law, protection from abuse actions, insurance litigation, bankruptcy law, and family law.
After my tenure with the Lemoyne firm, I worked for a law firm in Newport, Perry County, where he focused on criminal defense, family law, and bankruptcy.
I am admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania courts, the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. I have practiced in, or worked in, over twenty (20) counties in Pennsylvania.
I am active in the community participating in Harrisburg Keystone chapter of Rotary International and the Harrisburg Young Professionals.
In my spare time, Matt enjoys running, lifting weights, kayaking, hiking, biking, soccer, playing kickball, following the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco 49ers, and spending time with his family. I have previously run a triathlon, a half marathon, and countless 5K and 10k races.
