People v. Morgan
Dec 18, 2012OUTCOME: Victory for my client. The Court of Appeal held that my client had unlawfully been denied opportunity for legal research. Court vacated the restitution order and remanded the case for a new hearing.
Client, a convicted murderer, represented himself at a hearing on the amount of restitution he must pay. Despite the judge's order that the sheriff's office give client access to a law library, he was ... given none. At the next hearing, the judge denied client's request for a continuance and imposed restitution. I was appointed to represent client on appeal.
