Amanda L. Fitzhugh Porter, moved to Southwestern Pennsylvania as a young child when her father was transferred to Greensburg, Pennsylvania. She currently resides outside of Uniontown, Pennsylvania with her husband, Carl, who is a dairy farmer for Jackson Farms.
Ms. Porter’s journey to becoming a lawyer was a long and tedious one and she was the first in her family to ever receive a juris doctor. In 1998, she began working for King & Guiddy in Greensburg, PA as an Administrative Assistant and Abstractor, learning how to perform title work and how to handle estates, workers’ compensation and personal injury cases. In 2001, she became a Legal Secretary and Computer Trainer for Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin, an insurance defense firm located in Pittsburgh, PA. While working full-time in these positions, Ms. Porter earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh.
In 2005, Ms. Porter became a Litigation Paralegal for the Healthcare, Casualty and Asbestos Departments at Marshall, Dennehey, where she assisted several attorneys with complex litigation cases including medical malpractice, personal injuries, Dram Shop, asbestos, etc. In this position, Ms. Porter attended several trials and depositions and gained invaluable experience and knowledge into litigating complex cases.
While working full-time as a Litigation Paralegal, Ms. Porter attended evening classes at Duquesne University School of Law, where she concentrated on her legal writing skills as an Editor for both the Duquesne Law Review and the Duquesne Business Law Journal. She received her juris doctor in 2011.
Shortly thereafter, Ms. Porter started her own practice concentrating on oil and gas, real estate, personal injury cases, simple divorce cases, wills and estates. Ms. Porter is a member of the Energy and Mineral Law Foundation, the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Fayette County Bar Association. She is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia (as of 10/25/2012).
