Kari Ann Baumgart

I hired Kari with a $5000 retainer to handle my divorce. She was great in our initial consultation, but after that she was impossible to reach. Each attempt at calling her resulted in either no answer, full voicemail, or a brand new paralegal who had no knowledge of my case. My hiring her only add...ed to my already stressful divorce situation. Long story short: I had to hire another attorney to handle my divorce and I had to file charges against her with the OFFICE OF DISCIPLINARY COUNCIL. I only knew to do this as I had a friend who was an attorney. NEVER HIRE THIS ATTORNEY.

I consulted Kari to represent me in my divorce. I was looking for a female attorney when I chose her. I showed some interest on her website and she promptly called me on a Saturday and spoke with me over the phone at no charge. I was really impressed with her at first until after I gave her the $2...,000 retainer fee. It seemed like every month I was receiving a statement from her paralegals but wasn't making any headway with her representing me. Every time I would call her office it seemed like it was a different paralegal doing the paper work for me. The turnover rate in her office was so high I should have known from that alone. I thought my divorce was finalized and she told me she needed another $1,000 retainer fee to "finish up some paperwork". She personally called me on this matter and told me that whatever money was left would be refunded to me. I assumed the divorce was finished because I never heard from her again and when I called the office to inquire about any leftover retainer money I was told that they didn't know anything about it. So I figured I was out $1,000 but oh well. Fast forward a couple of years my ex wife called me when she went to change back to her maiden name and she realized after calling the prothonotary office that we legally were still married. The court sent paper work to Kari Baumgart's office about this and Kari's office never contacted me at all. And when I found all of this out I called Kari's office and the number was disconnected. Thankfully my ex was cool about everything and I went to the courthouse and took care of everything myself. Lesson learned here, do not ever contact Kari Baumgart for anything!!!

Ms. Baumgart was engaged to represent me in a child custody issue. Wow, what a horrible mistake. Her fees were ridiculous and so was her representation. She made several mistakes on each of her filings and was unprepared for court. And if you need to talk to her, plan on NEVER getting a returned phon...e call. I personally think she should try another occupation. I would only recommend her to someone that wants to lose a case.

My parents met her in a bank setting to talk about wills, had one appt at her office to proof the draft of a reciprical will for them. some changes made, no prices quoted, she assured them that she would bring the final draft to their home for them, as they had trouble getting to the office. Never he...ard from her again until a bill came in the mail, AFTER my mother had already passed away, charging $1500 (w/a 50% discount, so total bill $750 for a simple reciprical will). Why would anyone pay for a document that they had never received. Made many calls never got a return call from Ms. Baumgart herself, just kept receiving the billings. My dad has passed away now also, 3 years ago, still receiving bills and I'm not allowed to call the office based on letters from her because she feels that I was rude to her staff. Tried to send a settlement amount w/a letter based on the draft that was written, on the advise of my dad's estate lawyer, she never acknowledged the check or letter and is still sending monthly billings.... What a wonderful, caring person...NOT! My father's ACTUAL will cost him $200 from a caring, reputable attorney!

Kari is useless, over priced, incompetent, and unreliable. A simple divorce took almost 3 years. I ultimately had to fire her and hire another attorney just to get the job done, costing me tens of thousands of dollars. She hurt me more than helped me, enabling my spouse to get more money in the se...ttlement than is customary. Her license should be revoked.
