Kari Ann Baumgart

Ms. Baumgart was engaged to represent me in a child custody issue. Wow, what a horrible mistake. Her fees were ridiculous and so was her representation. She made several mistakes on each of her filings and was unprepared for court. And if you need to talk to her, plan on NEVER getting a returned phon...e call. I personally think she should try another occupation. I would only recommend her to someone that wants to lose a case.

I was very impressed with Kari when I met her and quickly decided to retain her services. She promised to be prompt and was very sincere. Soon after hiring her she would disappear for long stretches. She would not return phone calls. Her staff would be rude to me. In part as a result of utilizing her... services I ended up losing thousands of dollars. I have since found much better legal advice.

Kari represented me in a contract negotiation and gave very poor advice. She was impossible to get in touch with and would not return any calls. She fabricated reasons why I could not deal with her staff. She has a grossly over inflated estimation of the value of her services and seems to rely on bo...ilerplate documents to work with her clients. She is very charming and will promise you the moon when you begin working with her and then will deliver zero results. If you question her she will invent a reason to be angry and stop communication.

My parents met her in a bank setting to talk about wills, had one appt at her office to proof the draft of a reciprical will for them. some changes made, no prices quoted, she assured them that she would bring the final draft to their home for them, as they had trouble getting to the office. Never he...ard from her again until a bill came in the mail, AFTER my mother had already passed away, charging $1500 (w/a 50% discount, so total bill $750 for a simple reciprical will). Why would anyone pay for a document that they had never received. Made many calls never got a return call from Ms. Baumgart herself, just kept receiving the billings. My dad has passed away now also, 3 years ago, still receiving bills and I'm not allowed to call the office based on letters from her because she feels that I was rude to her staff. Tried to send a settlement amount w/a letter based on the draft that was written, on the advise of my dad's estate lawyer, she never acknowledged the check or letter and is still sending monthly billings.... What a wonderful, caring person...NOT! My father's ACTUAL will cost him $200 from a caring, reputable attorney!

My opinion is she is grossly overpriced. I feel she is tempermental and unknowledgeable of many aspects of law. She has gone many months without returning phone calls, and Is apparently unable to hold onto paralegals for extended periods of time. I think she is greedy and avoids explaining what all t...he charges are for and did not have my best interests first and foremost. My simple case that should have been concluded in a few months turned into a 2 1/2 year long money pit that will take me years to recover from. In my case she did me much more damage than good and I feel that she gives bad attorneys a bad name.
