Ryan James Cooney

Ryan Cooney is a partner and co-founder of the Cooney law Offices. Ryan counsels clients in all areas of small business ownership, including formation, acquisition, financing, partnership disputes, dissolution and insolvency. Ryan has been selected to the Pennsylania Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in the area of Commercial Bankruptcy.

Regarding his bankruptcy practice, Ryan primarily represents business and individual Debtors in chapter 7 and 11 cases. He also has substantial experience representing creditors, trustees, and parties to Adversary Proceedings involving preferences, fraudulent conveyances and dischargeability. Many of Ryan's clients are small business owners looking to minimize their liability related to personal guarantees.

Ryan graduated with a degree in Business from The Ohio State University in 2011 and from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2014. He is also a 2016 graduate of the University of Virginia's National Trial Advocacy College. While in Law School, Ryan commenced his career at the Robert O Lampl Law Office where he worked until February of 2022.

Ryan is admitted in Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court. Ryan is the Secretary and future President of the Bankruptcy & Commercial Law Section of the Allegheny County Bar Association. Ryan is a former executive committee for the JFK Western Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Inn of Court. He is a frequent lecturer at the annual Bankruptcy Symposium and Allegheny County Bench-Bar Conference.
