Mark Thomas Caloyer

MARK T. CALOYER is a member of the firm’s Construction Practice Consortium, and the Litigation, Risk Management & Workers' Compensation, and Transportation Practice Groups. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, construction litigation, and litigation involving intellectual property, product liability, and other torts.

 

Mr. Caloyer’s trial and appellate practice has involved personal injury and property damage, product liability, errors and omissions, insurance coverage, and bad faith. In addition, he has litigated construction disputes in the courts and in arbitration. His construction practice includes representation of owners, architects, contractors and suppliers, not only in construction defect and payment disputes, but also cases involving construction accidents and injuries.

 

He also performs construction accident and highway construction zone accident investigations for contractors. This early involvement helps to identify key witnesses and preservation of evidence, including important video and photographic evidence of construction zone signage and safety equipment in place at the time of the accident. These investigations by counsel assist the contractor and its insurer to identify key legal and factual issue in order to determine whether to approach potential claims from a defense or settlement perspective from the outset.  In addition, this involvement can include assisting in responding to OSHA investigations and enforcement actions.

 

His defense practice includes defending clients in various industries, including airlines and manufacturers. Mr. Caloyer has also counseled insurers in the areas of first and third-party insurance coverage and insurance fraud. He has also been a continuing legal education author and lecturer on insurance bad faith.

 

Mr. Caloyer is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar Associations, the Churchill Centre, and is past President of the Board of Trustees of the Kentucky Avenue School.
