About me

It is my aim to provide you with an intelligent evaluation of your case and an aggressive defense. All too often, the prosecutor/government acts as though they have all the cards and treat an accused as some sort of low-level human being. In contrast, I deal with each person who seeks my legal assistance as a unique person with unique needs and circumstance.

It is always my goal to fight for my client and to hold the government to its burden of proof - beyond a reasonable doubt - with lawfully obtained evidence.

The client must repeatedly be reminded - you are innocent. Only proof beyond a reasonable doubt at trial can remove that presumption from you. I love the opportunity to represent "the little guy" against the specter and power of the government and to protect a person's liberty.

When the government has filed criminal charges against you, it is trying to take your liberty away from you. They are trying to put you in jail, or at best, probation, which also represents a restriction on your liberty. As an attorney and a person, I treat every day my client might go to jail as serious.

When charges are filed, the government usually believes it has all the cards, that they are going to steamroll the accused, and obtain a sentence from the judge that it wants. It is my job to show the government there are problems with its case that could result in an acquittal or greatly reduced charges and therefore a much lower sentence or even no sentence at all.

Is it worth it to hire an experienced private lawyer?

  • In my experience in life, you get what you pay for. In my case, that means you get my thirty-five years of experience in state and federal courts in cases ranging from drug misdemeanors and felonies to the most serious homicides.

  • In terms of what you can afford or justify as a legal fee, remember that if the government wants to put you in jail for months, or even years, that means you will be separated from your family, friends, and employment or school.

Can you afford not to hire me?
