Mr. Sassic concentrates his practice inconstruction, surety, commercial, and business law and litigation.

Mr. Sassic has represented owners, architects, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and sureties in a variety of construction-related issues. His practice area in construction and surety law and litigation includes the following: breach of contract, collections, Commonwealth Procurement Code, contract documents (including AIA documents), Contractor and Subcontractor Payment Act (a/k/a Prompt Pay Act), defective work, infringement of copyrighted plans, drawings, buildings and other architectural works, insurance coverage under commercial general liability (CGL) policy, mechanics’ liens, Miller Act, non-payment, payment bonds, performance bonds, project delays, impacts, and inefficiencies, and Public Works Contractors’ Bond Law (a/k/a Little Miller Act).

Mr. Sassic also has successfully prosecuted and defended construction claims involving a variety of construction projects, including the following: asbestos abatement, bridges, buildings, concrete, demolition, environmental remediation, geotechnical issues, HVAC, oil and gas drilling, oil and gas pipelines, private projects, public projects, retaining walls, roadways, schools, structural issues, subsurface issues, and wastewater/sewage treatment plants.

Mr. Sassic's practice area in commercial and business law and litigation includes the following: acquisitions, breach of contract, collections, confidential information, covenants not-to-compete, employment agreements, employment disputes, injunctions, misappropriation of confidential or proprietary information, non-compete agreements, non-payment, promissory notes, replevin actions, sales, security agreements, shareholder disputes, and trade secrets.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Mr. Sassic has several years of experience as an engineer in the field of manufacturing engineering and project management. Before becoming an attorney, Mr. Sassic worked as an engineer for a company that manufactures transformers and voltage regulators for use in the power industry. Mr. Sassic also formerly worked as an engineer for a company that manufactures industrial valves for use in the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and food processing industries.
