James Michael Evans

Jay Evans is a member of his firm’s Litigation Department, is licensed in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and is regularly involved in client counseling as well as trial and appellate work. His experience encompasses many complex subject matters, including products liability and toxic tort, trade secrets and restrictive covenants, securities litigation, contract, real estate, insurance disputes, and antitrust and trade regulation. He also has practiced in the areas of clouded title, fraud and other areas of business and commercial litigation.

Mr. Evans has served as counsel for companies – including automotive and other vehicle equipment manufacturers – facing significant litigation burdens, particularly in products liability and toxic tort suits, in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and across the country. He is part of the firm’s defense team representing major vehicle manufacturers in the defense of their asbestos cases throughout Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Additionally, Mr. Evans counsels nonprofit organizations on issues including tax exemption, contracts and releases, and general business matters.

Mr. Evans dynamically defends clients with the goal of successfully reducing or eliminating actions against them. He is involved in every aspect of the defense of a case -- pleadings, motions, depositions, trial, Frye/Daubert challenges, and appeals. When mapping out a legal strategy, he partners with his clients to meet their legal and financial objectives. He is proactive in his representations, working with clients and keeping their set goals in mind, whether it’s minimizing expenses or exposure or preventing future law suits.

During his career, he has made appearances before state and federal trial and appellate courts and in proceedings governed by the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
