Spent months looking forward to a trial to get my kids just to be talked out of it at the last minute

My custody case was very difficult. However not impossible. Sadly I was recommended for Nick Feldman. He’s young and aggressive. At first dealing with my ex husbands attorney I wanted the aggressiveness. But I quickly noticed that he would interrupt and talk over me. I let it go because I thought thi...s would benefit me. I retained him beginning of January 2021. We had a pre-trial in March 2021 that went good. The judge apparently said that I was a good mom and co parent but she wanted to make sure I was okay. They had a lawyer that was currently suspended, Michael, do a lot of my work for me. I think Michael was the only one by my side. My pretrial statement was stronger than my ex’s and I was ready to take on my ex for trial July 2021. I had been open with Nick about the issues including mistakes that I’ve made. However he was not one to read and return emails. He told me not to write him a book. Meanwhile this is my case for my kids that we’re wrongly taken from me. I was looking forward to finally getting my voice back in the courtroom. I told him at the pretrial in March that if he wanted to get my psychologist from the VA to be a witness and not just a letter, he needed to work with the VA then. We’ll he didn’t try to get her until the week before the trial. Then the day before the trial I could tell that he was trying to talk me out of doing it. I always paid on time. I was always respectful to him. I need my kids. The day of the trial my kids spoke first without lawyers in the room. Nick then made it out to me that my kids were settled living with their dad in Somerset. So instead of listening to my heart and fighting for my kids, I let Nick talk me out of doing my trial. I sent my kids home with my family that day to process everything. The next day I told my 14 year and 10 year sons that they would be continuing to live with their dad. My 10 year old flipped out because he wanted to live with me. Nick didn’t care. He told me that the judge decided to go with wherever my oldest was “settled”. However my oldest doesn’t talk to his step mom unless he has to and stays in his room a majority of his time there. He liked it there because he had friends. Nick never cared to fight what was done to me. Now 8 months later I’m on short term disability because I’m trying to deal with the trauma my ex husband has caused me. I am in intense therapy for it.I see my sons 4 days a month in the school year and about half the summer. I went from being a hands on mom to barely seeing my kids. They come home and my youngest says he wants to live with us and is emotional. My oldest said that he can’t stand his step mom and his relationship with his dad is so-so. This has never been in the best interest of my children. I tried contacting a different lawyer and now I can’t get anyone to help me. I’m trapped in this hell for the next seven years.

Custody Case

What can I say about Nick...He was truly essential in helping my spouse and I obtain custody of our cousin. He was always super supportive, thorough, diligent and determined to win. Words can't express how happy we are to have this firm on our side and we can't wait to move forward with the adoption ...proceedings. Thanks again Max, Nick and Joe. You all are truly amazing!

Honest, fair, and dedicated

When I met Max and Nick Feldman, I was working with another attorney who had made promises that were not kept and who would not not fight for my child and I. My son's father unilaterally decided to start paying half of the amount of support that was owed and proceeded to file a modification. This... case ended up being deemed complex and lasted nearly 18 months. This was one of the most difficult times of my life (mentally, emotionally, and financially) and it took a lot out of me. First and foremost, this family firm is honest. Max and Nick handled my case and they never once promised me a certain outcome. They informed me of the worst and told me their plan to fight for the best. They always kept me informed and were transparent throughout the entire process. They are fair. I had no idea how expensive this process would be. I was a single mom making OK money, but was not fully prepared for the financial burden my son's father was putting on me by taking this route. Max and Nick did everything they could to keep the invoices down. The nature of my case and the work that was necessary to put in made my case a bit more costly than the usual case. Nick, being in his first couple years at his father's firm, took on a lot of work for my case in order to keep costs down (and he did a fantastic job)! They are dedicated. Nick and Max took on a very difficult case that was far from "in the bag." During one meeting, I walked into the office with stacks and stacks of paperwork pertaining to my case all over the desk, filing cabinets, the floor, etc. They had everything that they needed ready to go for our upcoming court date. Both Nick and Max put in hours of dedication and hard into my case that a previous attorney had dismissed. They are ethical. Not once did Max or Nick make unnecessary jabs or attempts to defame opposing counsel or their client. They were calm and collected and let the facts speak for themselves. We had multiple court dates throughout the 18 months and nearly all trials yielded favorable outcomes for my child and I. I also believe that Max's reputation for being a solid and ethical attorney had something to do with the positive outcome as well. Finally, they communicated with me. There were times where there were multiple emails per day. I had so many questions and I am sure that I was a handful, but Max and Nick always answered and were able to calm my nerves every time! I do not want to ever have to refer someone to a family attorney, but in the event that I do, it will be to Max Feldman and his son's Nick and Joe!

Courtney: You are absolutely correct. You had a very difficult case involving many complex legal issues; however, we worked together, we were prepared, and most importantly, we never gave up. While exhaustive preparation and zealous advocacy on the attorney's part are major factors in a successful outcome, the client's hard work and devotion to his or her cause is just as important. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and, should you ever need us again, we will always be here for you and your family. Thank you, Max, Nick, and Joe Feldman

"The one matter I worked on with Nick was highly contentious between both parties, and Nick was calm, professional and level-headed, which made a high-conflict case substantially easier. He is the type of attorney that both lawyers and clients would want to work with."
