Negligent Death Lawsuit

I only have extremely good things to say about Attorney Friedlander. I met him after the wrongful death of my Mother in a Skilled Nursing Facility due to their negligence. When I consulted him about my case, he was very honest about finding out if I had a case or not. Ultimately, I did. I know he... went far and beyond my expectations for this lawsuit. Due to his expertise and knowledge and patience with me, I would recommend him to anyone in need of the type of services he provides. He was the consummate professional while maintaining a friendly and at times a little levity during an otherwise difficult time. I'm very appreciative of all his hard work and getting through so much "red tape" which seemed non-stop. He went to bat for me probably more times than I know. I absolutely have NO hesitation to recommend Attorney Friedlander for any of his services. I also commend his staff as well. My first and most important reason to file a lawsuit was to hopefully bring to light how badly untrained and even trained employees of Skilled Nursing Facilities treat the elderly patients. If this helps even one patient, then it's all been worth it. So, KUDOS to Attorney Friedlander for everything he did to help me do so. Thank you again!!

Dad's Justice

In December 2007, I was stunned and completely devastated with the loss of my Father. He had gone to a rehabilitation/nursing home for a scheduled 3 weeks to improve the strength in his legs after being ill. The plan was rehabilitation and then return to his home for his active life. Dad left th...at facility in an ambulance and was dead 31 days after arriving there for basic rehabilitation. Refusal by the staff doctor to follow my Fathers hospital discharge orders, nurses and aids not following standard care procedures resulted in daily errors and problems. All of my requests for doctor consultation were ignored. The staff discarded daily notes from me. How could this happen? Why?? After spending weeks of sleepless nights, I consulted a friend who gave me countless reasons to just accept my Fathers death and heal. I couldn’t let it go. I heard my Dad’s painful screams from the skin being eaten off his legs due to poor hygiene from the Nurses. I saw the hopelessness in his eyes when I explained there were no other facility openings to transfer him. I watched his dignity and will to live diminish. NO ONE DESERVES that type of treatment. I was then referred to Bill Friedlander Esq., Friedland & Friedlander Law Firm.. We met and after explaining how difficult it is to prove my allegations, Bill miraculously accepted the case. Bill discovered cover-ups, lies, corporate mishandlings, state regulation violations, ineptness – he just kept investigating even after their insurance company filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Every legal filing was delayed, counter filed, this case dragged on for years, with no remorse or acknowledgement. I was discouraged, but Bill and his associate Dave Hoey convinced me that the nursing home was trying to break me by dragging this out until I would just give up. After a 13 day trial and hung jury, Bill continued fighting for my Father – He and Dave Hoey were relentless. Finally the Nursing Home and their Doctor caved (3 weeks prior to the next scheduled trial). William Friedlander Esq. and David Hoey, Esq. had won Justice for my Dad and the case was settled. I will never be able to express my gratitude to these two Attorneys who fought so hard for my Dad. The passion and kindness shown to me during this 7 year ordeal will always be with me. Carla

Highly recommened his abilities.

Mr. Friedlander and his staff worked with us diligently. He successfully settled the case of my loving father for me and we felt he was fighting for him even though he had never met him. We were kept informed as the case moved through the system. We were very satisfied with the settlement of the case....

He's the best, period...He cares, is honest, works very hard, does the legal research and he did not lose...

All of what I'm about to write is a matter of court record and can be corroborated as true: - I'm a non-biological father who when I met Bill, "I thought I WAS the biological father"... As soon as you can wrap your mind around that,, know he litigated the PA. law case in 2000-1 that won (me) legal... parental status for my daughter. The biological parents had tried to take my 3 (and later 4) yr old away from myself and our family (after the Mother and I had at 1st amicably split). We were not able to see Morgan for almost 4 months (12/1 - approx 4/1/2001, and yes we left the Christmas tree up for her). They intended for us to never see Morgan /again (and they put that in writing!) and were almost successful. Pretty sure this is close to the worse in terms of treating families, especially a child; but luckily and w/Gods and Bills help, we won. For more details on (the extensive legal briefs and research done by Councilor Friedlanders Firm, including his Mother/ who was a Judge), you can search PA. Law "Parent By Locatis", non-biological parents winning dual custody/legal parental status, and Judge Mott's ruling, from the Towanda PA. Ct House. Later, in 2003-5 he again won a 2nd case: - Where the biological father (who had been physical custody by the mother) had promised me that if I signed the papers to allow the legal status switch, nothing would change from our relationship of the last 2 years. Once signed, he sued myself and the mother for child support, made visitation a nightmare and this, after I had already and all along been supporting "our" daughter. Long story made short, Judge Mott ruled that a non-biological Father can not be held liable for support, any more than an Uncle, Grand-parent, stepfather or a friend could be held liable. Thus, the "Clerk's! initial ruling out of Towanda was over turned and we won. Again, for more details on (the extensive legal briefs and research done by Councilor Friedlanders Firm, including his Mother/ who was a Judge), you can search PA. Law "Parent By Locatis", non-biological parents w/dual custody/legal parental status, Legal obligation for support, and Judge Mott's ruling, from the Towanda PA. Ct House. Full disclosure: - I was referred to "Billy" in 12/2000 through my Mother, She met him when she was dating Tommy Hilfiger in the late 70's, when TH was still in Elmira & owned People's Place. - I continued to support my daughter after the 2004-5 case and still do as of this writing. She is pretty happy about that, because it now goes directly to her as an allowance for being a good kid, a straight A student and a wonderful daughter.

I would highly recommend him.

I was very pleased with Bill and his staff in helping me with my case. I was impressed with his representation. I was compensated for my injuries and was very satisfied with my settlement. I found Bill very understanding and easy to talk to. I would recommend him. Thank you.
