OUTCOME: Plaintiff'a mediation award - 7-figures

My clients were minor students where one was being sexually assaulted by a teacher at Stamford High School in Stamford, CT and the other was being given drugs to keep quiet about it. The odd part of th ... e case was that it was male students and a female teacher. It received heavy media coverage and as the victims' attorney I assisted the State in sending the perpetrating teacher to prison for 5 years and getting her license to teach revoked. I also obtained a settlement through mediation that amounted to seven (7) figures for the boys regarding the negligent conduct of the school in failing to report the conduct when it became known and failing to have their teachers properly trained in mandated reporting requirements.

Appeal to CT Appellate Court regarding the "law of the case" doctrine when Plaintiff had prevailed on a Motion to Dimsiss but then lost a summary judgment based on the same issues raised in the Motion ... to Dismiss and the issues addressed by the two different judges resulted in totally different and conflicting applications of law to a breach of contract, tortious interference, and other related claims in a lawsuit.

OUTCOME: Plaintiff'a mediation award - $4.6M

Represented the estate of a deceased 13-year-old boy killed in a crosswalk by a Town of Stratford, CT Dept. of Public Works Truck that failed numerous safety inspections and whose driver was not proper ... ly licensed to be operating said multi-ton vehicle. Also represented the deceased child'a mother for bystander emotional distress, as she heard the accident from her home as her son was crossing the street for his bus stop. Case received media attention and earned myself and my partner a runner-up position in the 2014 Personal Injury Hall of Fame for "Lawsuits against Municipalities".

Represented a special education student raped in school by another special education student in the class bathroom while class was in session and was then sent home on the bus with her rapist for an ea ... rly snow dismissal immediately after reporting same to the administration because they did not believe her and exposed her to further torment by him on the way home on the bus. He was deemed unfit to be prosecuted due to his severe special education needs. So a civil remedy was the only way to get justice for my client.
