Mr. Griego obtained a judgment in excess of $6 million dollars while representing Mr. Lewison in a personal injury claim. The claim involved an auto accident in Orange County, CA. Mr. Lewison t-boned ... Mr. Orozco-Garcia when Mr. Orozco-Garcia, an unlicensed driver, made an unsafe left turn at an intersection. As a result of the accident Mr. Lewison suffered lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spinal injuries, resulting in a bi-level spinal fusion. Mr. Lewison also suffered permanent and severe urological and intestinal damage as a result of the accident and treatment. Mr. Griego provided expert testimony that Lewison, a young man at the time of the accident, was limited to working part-time for the remainder of his life and was unable to perform most household services for his family.

Patrik Griego was one of four trial lawyers who conducted five years of litigation against Skilled Healthcare before winning a $676.8 million dollar jury award against a large nursing home chain (Laven ... der v. Skilled Healthcare Group). Mr. Griego handled the cross examinations of Skilled Healthcare employees regarding staffing numbers and financial incentives provided to corporate employees to understaff so as to increase business profit. The Plaintiffs' lawyers proved that Skilled Healthcare Group understaffed its 22 nursing homes in California. After a six-and-a-half month trial, the jury found that the chain was responsible for 1.2 million violations at a potential cost of $500 each. Two months after the verdict, Skilled Healthcare Group agreed to pay $50 million in a cash settlement and $12.8 million to cover the cost of an earlier injunction.
