JAMES NOBLES was born and raised in Conesus, New York. He knew from an early age that he wanted to be a trial lawyer fighting for people's rights. He is happiest when he is sinking his teeth into a high-profile, complex and serious case that will likely go to trial.

Mr. Nobles attended Genesee Community College and graduated from Nazareth College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He then graduated Cum Laude from New York Law School and went on to receive an LLM in Criminal Law, with Honors, from University of Buffalo Law School. Mr. Nobles is believed to be the only criminal defense lawyer with this advanced law degree practicing in Rochester.

As an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County, Mr. Nobles handled hundreds of criminal cases. Two highlights of his career as a prosecutor were an undefeated jury trial record and a unanimous guilty verdict on the top charge in seven minutes (believed to be an office best at the time). 

Since leaving the D.A.'s office, Mr. Nobles has handled all levels of criminal cases, from violations and DWI to guns, drugs, as well as numerous homicides. Mr. Nobles' legal achievements have been noted by the industry. In 2007, he was named one of Rochester's Emerging Bar Leaders and in 2008, he was awarded the Up & Coming Attorney award. In 2015, 2016, and 2017 Mr. Nobles was named a Top 100 Criminal Trial Lawyer in New York.

In 2015, Mr. Nobles and Mr. DeCarolis became partners in the Nobles & DeCarolis law firm to better serve their clients both individually and, when requested, as a team. Together they have successfully handled some of the most notorious and publicized local cases in recent years. In 2016, Nobles & DeCarolis added personal injury cases to their practice, taking their trial experience and skills to civil court to fight for the injured and their families.

James was always punctual, honest, direct and always maintained a satisfactory amount of communication. James made me feel confident about my options and outcomes, he properly coached me for all of my interactions and answers all of my questions. James never missed a court date or neglected any documents and was always up to speed with any changes and updates in my situation. Trust the Best to Defend you and your Future
I have had two unfortunate situations in my life that could have resulted in the loss of my professional license, loss of my job, and possibly even loss of my freedom. James handled both cases with professionalism and gotten me the best possible outcomes in both situations. I would not trust anybody else and would not hesitate to recommend him to anybody in a similar situation. Most recently he handled a DWI case with success that I frankly couldn't believe. Don't play around with your future, hire the best.

The best lawyer you can get
Everyone should hire James Nobles. He went above and beyond in my case. And he genuinely cares about the stakes involved for his clients, not just winning, though he will win -- he's ambitious, competitive, and driven as hell. He also made me, a weirdo philosopher, feel like a normal person, which helped me get through my trial immensely. And he won. He seriously listens, has the patience of Job, and is real. And he does it all with such grace that even the losers feel respected.

Relieved & grateful
Since day 1 , James did everything he could to help me. He kept me confident. Kept in contact with me about everything. He fought for me since the day he became my lawyer. A Life Saver!
If you require expert legal assistance and wise counsel, James is the Attorney to hire. He literally came to my rescue, and bailed me out of a terrible situation. He then proceeded to guide me through a Twilight Zone nightmare with superb, authoritative advocacy and genuine concern for my well-being. He is extremely bright, aggressive, and very personable. Live out of the area and needed a local Rochester attorney for our daughter. Found Mr. Nobles in a roundabout way. From the initial consultation to the disposition of the case, he was thoughtful, prepared, thorough and patient, outlining specifics on what could happen. Saved my butt
I was charged with a gun charge and faced 7-15 in prison if we blew trial. Mr. Nobles exposed the main witness as a self serving liar. I was found not guilty in less than a half hour. My family spent a lot on him, but it was worth every penny.

One In A Million
I was arrested for Grand Larceny from my former employer in January of 2013. At that time I retained a lawyer who I had worked with before on a totally unrelated issue. My situation was complicated as it also tied into my crumbling marriage as well, and there was a lot of dirty tactics going on behind the scenes. The DA's offer to me was 3 to 9 years and my former lawyer wasn't helping at all. When we began to realize what was happening between my ex-wife and my former lawyer, my mother began researching lawyers. Mr. Nobles came highly recommended and I now know why. Mr. Nobles is one of the most trustworthy and forthright men I have ever met. He is straight forward and fair. He doesn't sugar coat or give you any false hope. He will represent you in a manner that is honest and true to what a lawyer should be. I was impressed by him the very first time we met and have continued to be in awe of his courtroom presence and legal know how ever since. He stands on principles and most important of all, he doesn't judge. He fully recognizes that people make mistakes, and if you are truly willing to move on and make amends you'll find no better advocate than Mr. Nobles. I can only imagine how impressive he must be when he is defending someone who has literally been falsely accused. While I am not planning on needing a criminal defense lawyer anytime in the near future, if I knew of anyone who was looking for the best legal representation in Rochester, I would give them Mr. Nobles name each and every time. I went from looking at State Prison for 3 to 9 years to serving weekends in jail. He worked out a plea deal that was fair and livable. He truly is one in a million and God forbid if you are going through anything and need representation, look no further!

Great attorney.
I was in big trouble when I hired Mr. Nobles. I was recommended to him by a friend. I was charged with some criminal domestic violence charges while going though a divorce. The claims were baseless, but very serious. I risked going to state prison and losing my kids. Mr. Nobles did his own investigation into my ex and found a lot of things I didn't even know. He took the information to the DA and the case was dismissed before I was even indicted. His aggressive investigation also and what he uncovered even helped my divorce attorney get me primary customer. I can't thank James enough.

I can't thank him enough.
James literally saved my life. He represented my on an attempted murder a few years ago. It took a long time, but I was acquitted at trial. It took me a long time to get my life back, but I could not have done it without him. He broke down the DA's case every step of the way. My family and I can't thank him enough.

AWESOME LAWYER
When I was convicted of 3 harassment charges AND resisted arrest (a misdemeanor), I had NO idea who to call. Luckily I was talking to a friend of mine who mentioned that his lawyer, James Nobles, got his case & a couple of his friends cases dismissed also. When I called James he responded and met with me right away. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and personable at the same time. He kept me informed of what was going to happen throughout each step of the process which made me feel confident about my outcome. I could tell from the first court date that he was very experienced and skilled in the court room. After my second court date ALL of my charges were dismissed. I couldn’t have done it without the help of James, and I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who needs a lawyer who cares about his clients and is dedicated to getting successful results.
