Do not hire, terrible attorney, find a competent attorney

Michele was recommended by friend to handle custody/parenting agreement modification. Michele unorganized, she would schedule meetings at her office with me that always lasted at least 1 hour, $$$$$, we would come to agreement on pending matter when in court she would act like it was never discussed ...at all??? argue and blame me when I questioned or pointed out that was something we had already decided on. I arrived at office for scheduled appointment and she said " oh I forgot you were coming in today" NO WORRIES, she didn't forget to sent the bill for the full hour while she pranced around in 3" heels finding my file. claimed her office did not communicate via email and said to call, when I called office staff said I didn't respond to email and attachment? acted like I was being unreasonable because I didn't agree with last minute changes the other side made to agreement, Isnt it her job to represent her client not endorse the other side? This is a parenting agreement that as a parent I will live by for the next 10 years so umm yeah. leave voicemail about not responding to email she sent (that they don't use?) and then a follow up letter she sent, when I said I didn't receive any letter in the mail? Eventually found that her staff sent to wrong address- BUT don't worry- somehow the bill for 250.00 an hour always came to the correct address! yes where I was overbilled - a 3 minute conversation from wherever she was with a lot of noise and people talking in background was billed as a 15 minute conversation-and changes agreed to were never followed through with on her end. the final agreement/parenting plan submitted to the court- my copy sent via email/file attachment- Missing page 6, had to call and ask for a complete agreement and had the displeasure of speaking to the nasty rude office girl, there is one who is pleasant and nice but I doubt she will survive . Never would I ever recommend Michele Bergevin. LIKE EVER.

Great lawyer

I can't see why people would write terrible reviews for this woman!? Michele is a wonderful attorney who fights like a pit bull in a skirt for her clients.. she also is a very professional, busy, business woman. Maybe that is why some have negative comments, it maybe hard to relate. She calls back wi...th every call made for telephone consuel, handles things completely and entirely while at the court house, speaks to the judges with great knowledge of child custody issues. She fights for her clients 100%. This is my second time hiring Michele within an 8 year period and let me tell you I feel so at ease and comfortable just knowing she's there in my corner to defend not only myself but my daughter. She does it for the children! I feel truly and honestly if you have a washed opinion about her you must have lost your case due to the judgment from the JUDGE going to to "right" parent, and with all do respect can you really blame anyone but yourself?

Horrendous, Dishonest, Unprofessional, Incompetent Attorney

I hired Michele Bergevin for my custody case and she was the worst. First and foremost, she is a gouger. She'll overcharge and run up hours against her retainer and then come back for more. She is terrible at returning phone calls, doesn't respond to basic questions, and she is awful in the Courtroom.... In my case, she lost miserably to my ex husband who was representing himself pro se during a custody trial, and I lost physical custody of my 4 kids. Don't waste a dime on her legal services. She's a hack and does not belong in the profession. She should be disbarred for being unethical and unprofessional.

Outstanding "Trial" Attorney!

I retained Michele to handle a contentious and extremely complicated relocation trial (I was the one attempting to stop the relocation). This was a “direct to trial” case. I am a seasoned law enforcement professional. In that capacity, I have worked closely with an array of both prosecutors and de...fense attorneys. Many were/are quite skilled; some were great negotiators; only a handful were excellent trial attorneys. Michele falls into the latter. From the EBT (deposition) to the actual trial Michele performed admirably. She had complete command of the pertinent issues, (including case law) and her performance in both realms were simply outstanding. By the third day of trial, the petitioner (my ex) decided it was prudent to settle (before her cross-examination) and withdrew the relocation petition. As a father who loves his children, I could not be more appreciative of this final result. I firmly believe the concession was a result of a hesitancy to be crossed examined by Michele. The writing was on proverbial wall. As for her billing, she is extremely fair; some would say she was too fair. She charged me for “exactly” the work she did and clearly did not “pad” the bill – trust me I examine bills closely anytime I am involved with an attorney, and with my ex that is often. If you are seeking an experienced and seasoned “trial attorney,” look no farther. If you are seeking an attorney who can play “hard ball” when necessary to ensure there is no trial, look no farther.

Second time. Last time.

I used Michele for my divorce 11 years ago (she was recommended by a friend) and thought she was great, but it was a very straightforward case. I retained her again this year to handle a violation petition and custody issue with my teenagers. I did not at all appreciate the "wham, bam, thank you ma'a...m" treatment I received. I had a lot of questions due to the fact that I have a special needs child. She was not at all thorough - gave my questions the brush off and when I had follow up questions after the court date was over she said it was now a new matter and I'd have to pay to retain her all over again. She was cold, uninterested and acted like she had much bigger fish to fry than my crummy little case.
