Furthermore, the defendant’s employer was aware of his drug habit and had previously fired him for it. However, the company soon rehired him a few weeks later despited clearly knowing his dangerous tendencies. The case was settled prior to going to trial. The 18-wheeler company agreed to pay a settlement of $1,000,000 for the pain and suffering the client experienced as a result of the accident as well as the surgery which was required for the client’s neck injuries.
