Laura L. Spring

Laura L. Spring joined Sugarman Law Firm as a partner in November, 2009. She brings to the firm over 20 years of legal experience, 15 of which have been spent as a trial attorney in Syracuse and in New York City. Her expertise is multi-faceted, built on a practice that has spanned commercial litigation, employment law and human rights disputes. In addition, she has significant experience in the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights for individuals and businesses. Ms. Spring has successfully represented both employers and employees in federal and state court litigation, and in various federal and state agencies including the EEOC, State Division of Human Rights and Department of Labor. She provides strategic counsel for clients by preparing, negotiating and implementing policies and procedures based on the most current state and federal labor and employment laws. Ms. Spring also represents physicians in state disciplinary hearings and assists physicians in other legal matters.

Ms. Spring lectures extensively, specifically on themes of employment policy and practices including sexual harassment policies, employment at will, wage and hour issues, and employment benefits.

Ms. Spring is a cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo where she earned a B.A. in Art History and a graduate of the Pace University School of Law.

Ms. Spring is admitted to practice in all New York and Connecticut State Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and the U.S Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. 

Ms. Spring is a member of the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary Board, the past president of the Fayetteville Free Library Board and past Secretary of the Women’s Fund of Central New York. Her professional memberships include the Onondaga County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section and Health Care Law Sections, the Federal Bar Association, New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, Defense Research Institute and Professional Liability Underwriting Society.
