Save your money

First couple of times I talked to him on the phone and first time meeting him he seemed caring and someone I could trust. He sounded very knowledgeable and confident. He wasted no time filling paperwork for child custody and that's all he did after being paid. I paid him $3,500.00 and in court he vol...unteered more time to the other parent. I filed for sole custody and told him I would be comfortable settling for the other parent to get every other weekend because of all the circumstances with our situation. He talked like he understood but clearly did not. Secretary is rude and sounds annoyed that the phone rang. He doesn't communicate with you, you have to call them and leave a message to call you back, which is understandable except when he tells you he will call you before your court date and go over things. I didn't pay him to fight for the other person, I paid him to help me. Neither the judge or the other lawyer even mentioned about getting more time with the child. So there was no need to volunteer to change the custody agreement that both parents were okay with. The other parent has their own lawyer, they don't need mine to advocate for them.

Awful, horrible attorney!

Awful awful awful! When he gets you in for a consultation, he will tell you everything you want to hear. And as soon as you hand over that retainer fee, it’s all downhill from there. He talks too fast and won’t let you get a word in. When you manage to get a chance to speak, he proceeds to talk over ...you. He handled my custody case so poorly and cowardly bowed down to the other attorney in court. My ex was awarded everything he asked for because DeRoberts didn’t fight for me. He agreed to things I did not want to agree too and now I’m stuck with them the way they are. Find yourself a different attorney to represent you if you want to win your case!

Family custody case

When I first began my case, I live in California and was mainly working with him over the phone and email before I met him in the courtroom, we immediately connected, he had an amazing follow-up time and great paralegal staff. I was getting in contact with many attorneys in the area to handle my case..., but when I spoke with Jeffrey, he was confident, knew what he was talking about, and he really cared about my case. He is a family man himself and understood the circumstances of my particular case, he was always more than willing to answer any questions I had regarding the legal jargon. During the trial, he ran the courtroom and it showed- he was incredibly knowledgeable about family law and this case in particular. Anything the opposition had to bring up that was remotely straying from the main portion of the case, he objected, got the courtroom back in order. Jeffrey cares about his clients and he was able to settle this case and stopped the other party from unnecessarily dragging out the case longer than it needed to be. I would recommend Jeffrey to anyone in need of a family law specialist, he has a great reputation in the community and other fields.

Don't waste time and money by going elsewhere

As anyone who has been in a contentious custody dispute, you know that you will be in court more than once over the years. I have wasted a LOT of time and money using other attorneys who can't get the job done, don't remember critical details, or fail under pressure. I hired Jeff to get 50/50 physi...cal and legal custody of my son, and that is exactly what he did. He was efficient, knowledgable, and effective. He never gave me a lot of BS and made sure that I kept my expectations realistic, which I appreciated. I knew what to expect and felt prepared going into court, and I think that is in large part due to the amount of experience he has. Jeff made sure I had all of his contact info and returns calls and emails very quickly. Over the years, he has made himself available to give advice on other issues that pop up. I can't recommend him enough to anyone who needs help from a skilled attorney.

As a male in a custody dispute, hire him and he will fight for you

Let me tell you about Jeff as an attorney, is he warm hearted, nope. Is he one to listen, nope. Is he a good attorney, yes. I hired Jeff for a nasty custody battle where I was going for 50/50 and my ex-wife was going for full. I hired him after reading about his aggressive tactics, I knew it was who ...I needed on my side. Well I went to talk to Jeff, and in the consult I did very little talking aside from telling him what I wanted. Whatever I said, he is confident he can get me 50/50 then fine. Now all attorneys aren't great about returning phone calls, Jeff was one of the best even calling me from his cell phone after hours. When I did talk to him he did most of the talking, but he was honest and upfront and did not hold back because he would hurt my feelings. If I wanted something he saw as stupid, he held no issue in saying it. But for all his talking, put him in front of a judge and he shows the utmost respect and knows when to speak. So Jeff isn't the warm fuzzy let me pamper you type, he curses, can be blunt, but at the end of the day he knows what he is doing. There is a reason he has a beautiful office, he is good at what he does. He fights for his paycheck by fighting for his client. He talked circles around my ex's attorney and I came out getting nothing less than I wanted. If you hire him, don't go in with unreasonable expectations, don't go in thinking he will coddle you, go in knowing what you want and be upfront. He will fight for you like no other.
