DIVORCE AND FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY
In situations where an alternative dispute resolution model is not appropriate for your situation, Attorney Shartrand provides skilled and professional services in trial advocacy, negotiations and Family Court litigation. Ms. Shartrand has 27 years of experience and an excellent reputation as a Matrimonial and Family Law practitioner in the New York State Courts. She handles the negotiation and drafting of separation and marital settlement agreements, prenuptial agreements, retirement orders, and child support and custody stipulations and orders. She is committed to providing personal attention to your matters, and prompt responses to your questions and concerns. She has a close working relationship with all of her clients, resulting in effective representation combined with compassionate service.
COLLABORATIVE DIVORCE: AN ALTERNATE MODEL OF DIVORCE RESOLUTION
Collaborative divorce is an alternate model quite different from the traditional litigated and contentious divorce process with which we are all too familiar. With this model you and your spouse commit to settling your case without going to court. Each party chooses a collaboratively-trained matrimonial attorney to handle the legal issues and a divorce coach, who is a collaboratively trained mental health professional to response tot he painful; emotions that divorce sometimes involves. The parties and their collaborative professional then work together in a series of collaborative meetings to assist you through the negotiations leading to a marital settlement agreement. Jo Ann Shartrand is the founding director of the Capital District Collaborative Divorce Association. For more information on Collaborative Divorce, please view the above video of an interview with Ms. Shartrand and Phil Baily of Channel 13 news, and also please see the attached links. .
