Kevin T. McDermott

I was very young and poor. I was married to my now ex-husband in 1990. It was 1996 when another attorney recommended Kevin to me. I had been physically separated 4 full years from my soon to be ex-husband. I had met someone shortly after I left my ex with our son. He was order to pay a mere $25 doll...ars a week from Family Court. I never did receive a dime from the father, but I was working full time and so was my new beau. I was living a happy life with my son and he really loved my boyfriend, so for my future to move forward I needed a divorce. Yet, I was financially strapped and tried filing an uncontested myself. Sadly, I was naive to the court requirements. I was turned away. That was when Kevin stepped in and saved me. He told me to get the money for the RJI and Docket number and we could move forward. He explained he would do the work free of charge. It took 6 short months for me to have a signed divorce in my hands. Now, he asked me if I wanted a job. I immediately accepted. Kevin taught me how to do everything on the computer and I naturally took up organizing everything. After a very short period of time I was a full fledged secretary and process server for a law office. Kevin restored pride in my self and a paycheck. I became pregnant and worked from home answering forwarded call to my home. I took a brief hiatus when Kevin had other work lined up in NYC. I eventually came back to work for Kevin again in 1999. While I worked for Kevin running the ship in his Goshen office I was welcomed to bring my 1 1/2 year old child into work with me everyday. The generous money I earned made me able to pay for my dream wedding. Of course Kevin and his beautiful wife were in attendance. Having had Kevin as not only my attorney, but my boss as well, I can tell you he has been in this business a very long time. I can say that now having practically grown up with Kevin at age 21 and now being a grandmother. He is incredibly smart, driven, dedicated, energetic, fierce, fair, knowledgeable, warm, kind, caring and reasonable. He will not lead you to believe in a fairytale outcome. He may fight hard, but he does so very realistically. I believe the term is, "won't blow smoke up your butt". He will keep your victories in the realm of possibility assuring you to win. I know Kevin personally and he is one of the hardest working attorneys I know. Don't let his youthful appearance fool you, he is a weathered lawyer. I hope this helps anyone on the fence.
