Brendan James Venter

I've had to use attorneys for multiple things over the years, and I remember being really surprised at the 5 star review for HB firm on google, but now that I'm an immigration client, I absolutely get it! I had considered (and even retained) over 10 attorneys in the past 5 years for both personal and... business matters (divorce, startup law, arbitration, tax, employment, etc., with immigration being the most convoluted and "sketchy" seeming) and my experience working specifically with Brendan Venter, a Partner in the Immigration practice at HB, has been simply outstanding. He is the most honest, transparent, and responsive attorney I've ever met. I understand that law around marriage-based / family immigration is actually quite complex, and we immediately felt confident that we were in the right hands with Brendan, and he has not disappointed. You hear horror stories out there, and sadly most are justified. Brendan, and by extension H-B for being smart enough to make him the partner of this practice, have restored my faith in the craft... at least with them! Eternally grateful for his counsel. I think this is one of the most stressful types of law - if mistakes are made, it can rip our family apart, not just lose a patent or money or even delay a divorce - it could devastate a family. From the minute we got off the phone with him for our initial meeting, after working with 4 others so far, we instantly felt calm. That hasn't changed at all. He is proactive, and insanely responsive. The mom in me wants to tell him he's allowed to sleep! Can't go wrong with him, and if he ever left his current firm, I'd follow him. (Also worth saying his support staff is incredible too - we had to get creative with how we delivered some docs, dealing with deadlines, and they were so flexible and accommodating).

I hired Brendan for J-1 2-year rule waiver with fear of persecution waiver with USCIS. He was very helpful for the entire process. He answered all of my questions which was a lot, in a timely manner.
