100% do not recommend Sarah Kemf. Don’t risk what matters most.

This review is specific to Sarah Kempf. I absolutely, and without a doubt in my mind would not recommend this lawyer or firm. She was very unresponsive, billed me mostly for email exchanges, and to draft 2 motions one of which I had to file because she did not after 3 months. I couldn’t get a call ba...ck before any of my appearances to talk strategy and no apology. She delayed my trial which helped her amass quite a lot more from some emails that I sent largely because she was unresponsive and didn’t file motions timely as she should have. She also canceled on pre trial prep leading to , you guessed it more emails. Some of these emails including one to tell me she doesn’t work on weekends and I should not expect a response, another to scold me for submitting a petition 2 business days from my court appearance months after she said she would (right after saying 3 days before that appearance that we should really file the motions before the appearances). The second motion was never filed and I found out she didn’t even talk to the other party as discussed. I feel completely scammed. She received 2 invoices for 6 months of work, the second I received only after I terminated her. I went over my retainer at some point which did not know because I was not receiving regular invoices. And oh after I terminated her and was able to resolve my case ProSe she emailed saying all this could have been resolved by a discussion. Maybe if I had received call backs or meaningful responses to emails. Run. Fast. The opposite direction. I will update review after the outcome of my formal complaints. Don’t risk your family or your own sanity with this firm. Update: While my experience with her should have made me not surprise, I still was shocked when she indicated that at no time did I attempt to meet with her in my fee dispute. I wish someone had warned me to expect lies and the behavior I described above. Lawyers like this meet you at some of your most vulnerable points, trying to protect and keep safe the most important people to you and act unethically.

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education

  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
