OUTCOME: Petition dismissed; affirmed on appeal.

Paternal grandparents filed for custody of grandchild. Grandchild had lived with grandparents for several years, but returned to mother and lived with her for four months before grandparents filed for ... custody. I represented mother in trial court and argued that grandparents lacked legal standing to sue for custody. The trial court ruled in our favor, but the appellate court sent the case back for a full hearing on standing. After the hearing was conducted, the trial court again ruled in mother's favor. This decision was affirmed on appeal.

OUTCOME: Reversed by appellate court; charges dismissed.

Defendant indicted for "super-X" possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. I filed a motion to suppress evidence, alleging that police unlawfully prolonged the traffic stop leading to the search o ... f defendant's residence. The trial court denied my motion. Defendant was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment. I filed an appeal of the trial court's ruling on the motion to suppress. The appellate court reversed, finding that the motion to suppress should have been granted.
