Disappointed client

In 2017 my wife and mother in law got in a car accident on the LIE. They had serious soft tissue injuries which are to this day ever present in their lives. On the recommendation of a friend who had had success in a personal injury law suit, we hired Regina Nichols to represent both my wife and m...other in law in a personal injury suit. As every case is different it’s hard to determine if we would have had a better outcome working with another attorney. I can say that we were not treated well as a client/customer. Nichols & Cane was not helpful when we needed recommendations or help navigating the no fault process. Communication about our case with staff regarding the case was non existent and was almost like we were bothering the staff when we had questions. Continuity of staff over the four years of dealing with Nichols & Cane was a process in itself. We had to deal with a revolving door of people with whom we were directed to communicate with about our case. Staff turnover at this firm is high. I can only speculate that it is not a positive place to work because of their retention issues. This was cumbersome because we had to bring multiple people up to speed about our case multiple times throughout the process. No fault vs private insurance: After multiple requests to have a question answered as to what the ramifications would be if we used private insurance to treat my wife’s injuries. We threatened to fire Regina based on the inability to be responded to. We were told that this would not happen again so we stayed with them. After a few years we accepted a settlement offer rather that go to arbitration. We were told to come to the office and pick up the settlement check. Extra fees were deducted from our settlement that we were not informed of in advance. Also, monies paid by private insurance that was paid to treat injuries was also deducted (this would have been avoided if they just answered questions In a timely manner) All in all I feel it is important to be represented by an attorney that values you as a client, and values clients in general. I would not hire Nichols & Cane in the future nor would I recommend you hire them for any reason.
