Sara Melissa Meyer

I am an Associate Attorney at Futterman Lanza, LLP, where my practice focuses on elder law and estate planning. I am dedicated to helping individuals and families plan for the future with clarity and confidence, ensuring their loved ones and assets are protected. My approach is compassionate, patient, and personalized, allowing clients to feel comfortable and supported as we navigate important legal decisions together.

With over nine years of experience in elder law and estate planning, I have guided clients through every stage of the process—from creating comprehensive estate plans to assisting with Medicaid applications, probate, and trust administration. Before joining Futterman Lanza, LLP, I spent several years at Goidel Law Group, PLLC in Melville and Grabie & Grabie, LLP in Smithtown, where I directed and supported estate planning matters and developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing aging individuals and their families.

My earlier experience as a paralegal in elder law inspired me to attend law school so I could continue serving the senior community with even greater impact. I earned my Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and hold a background in education, having earned degrees from Pace University and Dowling College. I am admitted to practice law in New York and am an active member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, Adrians Network, and the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce.

I am honored to have been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star (2024–2025), a distinction awarded to only 2.5% of attorneys in the Metro New York area.

I primarily work from our Smithtown office and meet with clients in our Garden City, Melville, and Bay Shore offices as needed. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters, reading historical fiction, and spending time outdoors—especially golfing with my husband.
