BEST LAWYER YOU CAN HIRE

James Murtha is simply the best. He answered all my questions, and got right to work on my case. I felt at ease like I was in good hands from the minute I called him. Even when I knew I was being a pest he was professional and put my mind at ease. When we got to court he made minced meat of my lying ...no good tenants and their lawyer. He showed them a thing or two and I won my case. Thanks James.

He is a Fraud and a Liar

I am writing this review to caution individuals seeking legal assistance to avoid the services of Murtha Law Firm LLC. My experience with this lawyer was deeply disappointing and concerning. I engaged attorney Murtha for assistance with an eviction process, and our interactions were solely conduct...ed online through emails and phone calls. Initially, he claimed to have filed my case with the court, reassuring me that the legal proceedings were underway. However, despite repeated requests, he refused to provide any documentation or proof of the filed case. As the case progressed, I discovered through direct communication with the court that no such filing existed under my name. Eventually, due to the non-appearance of the opposing party, the case was initially granted in my favor. However, this victory was short-lived, as I received a summons to return to court. Despite my urgent attempts to contact Mr. Murtha for guidance and representation, he failed to respond to any of my calls or emails. When I finally received a response via email, he claimed to be severely ill and announced his retirement, stating he could no longer represent me. Moreover, when I requested my case file and asked for a referral to another attorney, he completely ignored my attempts to reach out. Adding to the dubious nature of his services, his purported office address turned out to be a UPS address, raising serious concerns about the legitimacy of his practice. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against engaging Murtha Law Firm LLC for any legal matters. His lack of professionalism, failure to provide adequate representation, and apparent deception with a fake office address reflect a highly untrustworthy and fraudulent practice. Prospective clients should be wary and avoid falling victim to this individual's deceptive tactics.

CAUTION. CAUTION. CAUTION

If you're going to retain this lawyer be very careful After the 90 days notice to evict He said he was going to file with the "for court date So I decided to call the court to see how long it would take For them to Get the ball rowing I was surprised to find out he never filed any paperwork this is 2... months after the notice to event expired And when I called He said he was going to charge me $450 an hour because my questions were not part of the retainer So I'm Going to file a grievance with the bar association This review Is A personal Experience I've encountered With this attorney To me he seems like a tenant attorney more than a landlord attorney Good luck people there are better attorneys out there believe me with the bar association on this character

I do not know who this person is since the review is posted anonymously and is totally inconsistent with the way I diligently represent all my clients. I have never had a client say something like that, so I checked all my files and there are no such complaints. I also do not charge my clients an hourly rate of any sort. I offer a flat fee for evictions and I stand by it. If the person who posted this review is truly a client, I invite him or her to call me to see if we can figure out what the issue is and resolve any issues. But I suspect this may not be a legitimate review. In any event, all I can say is to the best of my ability to figure out why someone would post something like that, I have no idea who this is.

Extremely Generous

I called Mr Murtha after hours tonight and he graciously answered his phone. I told him of some threats my landlord made regarding my departure from my apartment and not getting my deposit returned. Mr Murtha clearly explained my rights and put me at ease, knowing i would not need his services but a...t the same time still treating me like a long standing client. Not all Landlord Tenant lawyers fight for the tenant, James Murtha does. I strongly recommend is services to anyone on Long Island that needs help.

I recommend this lawyer

I called Mr. Murtha for a free consultation. I thought I would need a lawyer and it would be expensive because that's what 2 other lawyers told me. They said I needed to hire them to do an eviction. But Mr. Murtha explained that an eviction wasn't necessary and I didn't need a lawyer at all. He solve...d my problems by explaining that I didn't have any! And he didn't charge me for the consultation. If I ever do need a lawyer, I know who to go to: James Murtha.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I endorse James D. Murtha. He is the most knowledgeable landlord-tenant and consumer rights attorney I have ever met or had the opportunity to work with. His skills and expertise in both the fields of landlord-tenant law, particularly as it applies to evictions, and debt-collection defense are unmatched in my opinion. James D. Murtha has my highest recommendation as an expert in landlord-tenant matters and in debt-collection defense."
