Effective Representation

Constructive Emancipation is one of the most difficult areas for a Plaintiff to obtain a favorable decision. Darren Shapiro not only received one but two favorable Constructive Emancipation decisions for me. Remarkably the second decision was obtained on appeal. Many attorneys would say that winning ...on appeal in the second case would be slim but Darren presented the facts in a way that clearly showed that the original decision should have been in the Plaintiff’s favor. It’s been a very long time in New York State since a case with similar facts as mine was decided in favor of the Plaintiff. The bar to Constructively Emancipate a child in New York State is very high and rightly so. It was not enough to only have the facts on your side but you must present them in a manner that overwhelmingly convinces the court that the only correct decision is to Constructive Emancipate the child. Darren Shapiro is a fair, reasonable and hard-working attorney that will do his best to obtain the best outcome for you. He doesn’t use Court TV antics to achieve his results only practical realistic approaches. I have recommended him to friends and family and would use him again.

"I endorse this lawyer. I met Darren Shapiro approx. 15 years ago when we worked together in the Foreclosure department of a law firm in Nassau County. Thereafter, Darren went out on his own and started his Family Law practice. Darren has always been a diligent and thorough attorney. He is also very personable and compassionate and that is a characteristic that you will not find in many attorneys, especially in the Divorce and Family Law arena. Many times, I call on Darren to help me with issues of Divorce and Family Law. He is extremely knowledgeable in this field and despite his case load, is always willing to listen and assist with any matter. I have referred prospective clients to Darren and they have been extremely satisfied with his professionalism and expertise. I highly endorse Darren Shapiro. Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2002.

Suspension issued in NY, 2002

updated on 11/04/2022

Suspended means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.

Darren’s comment:

“One night, in July 2000, when I was 28 years old, I made a very poor decision to drive. I was pulled over for driving while intoxicated. I received two misdemeanor convictions which resulted in a one year suspension of my license to practice law. Luckily, nobody was hurt, except myself. I started working a recovery program, completed my suspension, and was reinstated to practice law. It's now over 22 years later from that bad night and it's been a great recovery since!”
