First of all I met him by recommendation from a good friend that told me this guy knows what it takes to deal with my legal situation. As soon as I met Mr. Ahern in his office in Long Island and he started to introduce himself and explain deeply my legal situation and what it takes to attack the charges against me by preparing a detailed legal action plan, I knew I was in good hands. From that moment I decided to request Mr. Ahern's services and everything went as I expected. From the first day I was in constant communication with Mr. Ahern. From the first moment this guy attended me personally and was up to explain everything with great detail, always writing me by e-mail or personally calling me and being always available to clear my doubts and answering my questions. He prepared a legal course of action that was very professional and kept me posted everytime he made an advance or the district attorney established a matter of law. His strategy was specific and effective at every moment and his advise was helpful all the time. He detailed everything and kept me under his plan everyday. I live in NH, was traveling through NY on 6/28/14, totaled my car, and was arrested and charged with DUI/DWI. I became aware of and contacted Mr. Steven Epstein to handle my case. Mr. Ahern was ultimately assigned to my case and continued through its disposition on 2/18/15. I would whole heartily rec...ommend Mr Ahern to anyone within the NY metro area. Mr. Ahern recently joined the firm of Barket, Marion, Epstein & Kearon, after serving several years in the NY DA's office. He has a wealth of knowledge of both sides. He knows first hand for example, what the DA can do, won't do, and due to legal constraints, can't possibly do in negotiating the best outcome for his client. (This information is crucial to you as a potential client.) I found Mr. Ahern to be knowledgable, and trustworthy. For example, I have been attending AA recovery meetings, he suggested I keep a record of those to show to the court my seriousness about recovery. He suggested that before the court orders it, I should have a LADAC evaluation, and attend a Phoenix House program, both of which I did. The best outcome for me was to have the case dismissed on some technicality, (areas that Mr. Ahern examined), however, I have to believe that following his advice, and reporting those successes helped in reaching an agreement to a less serious offense than charged. As this was my first, (and hopefully only), experience with the legal system I have nothing else to compare him to. Let's be real for a moment, Lawyering in our country is a lucrative business. The fees charged are astronomical. For someone making $15-20.00/hr. the cost of a defense can seem overwhelming. As it was to me. In order to provide a defense, Mr Ahern needed information from the DA's office. That information was painfully slow in revealing itself to our side. I unfortunately took some of that frustration out on Mr Arhen, but being the professional that he is, didn't take it personally. Throughout this process he has maintained a courteous, positive attitude. Again, I found Mr. Ahern to be a bright young attorney, who keeps his clients interests in the forefront.
