Jennifer B. Cona

Jennifer B. Cona is the founder and managing partner of Cona Elder Law. Ms. Cona’s practice focuses on asset protection, Medicaid planning, estate planning, probate and estate administration, estate litigation, special needs planning and guardianships. Ms. Cona also heads up the firm’s Health Care Reimbursement and Recovery practice group. Under Ms. Cona’s guidance, the firm works to secure and ensure a payment source for long term health care, working together with both families and health care facilities to sustain quality care for older adults.

Ms. Cona is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for her business acumen and commitment to the community. Ms. Cona is rated a Super Lawyer by the New York Times. She was named in the inaugural class of the New York Law Journal’s Top Women in Law and has received the prestigious Leadership in Law award from Long Island Business News. Ms. Cona has received the Top 50 Women in Business award three times and was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame. She was named in the inaugural class of Hofstra’s Outstanding Women in Law and was rated a Top 10 Legal Eagle on Long Island. Ms. Cona has received the Brava Smart CEO award and has received the 40 Under 40 Rising Stars on Long Island award. She has received Star Network’s Power Women in Business award and the Outstanding Pro Bono Attorney award for her legal services provided to a severely disabled woman. She has been featured in Long Island Business News’ Who’s Who in Healthcare Law and is regularly featured in Who’s Who in Women in Professional Services. Ms. Cona has been profiled in the HIA-LI Hauppauge Reporter in its CEO Brief and has presented at the HIA-LI CEO Roundtable.

Under her direction, the firm has received the prestigious HIA Business Achievement Award. Dedicating herself and her firm to corporate social responsibility, the firm has received the Outstanding Corporation Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and was recognized as Those Who Make a Difference by HIA.

Ms. Cona is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center (“LIAD”) and served on the board of the United Way of Long Island. She is the founder and chair of the Advanced Elder Law Focus Group, an industry think-tank. Ms. Cona is a New York State Certified Guardian, Court Evaluator and Counsel to incapacitated persons and is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (“NAELA”), the Elder Law and Trusts and Estates Sections of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the Suffolk County Bar Association and the Estate Planning Council of Nassau County.
