Too Friendly With Opposing Council

I recently hired Harry George for my home sale and purchase. I felt like he was more eager to maintain friendships with opposing council instead of addressing his own client's concerns.

I recently read a review from someone (anonymous) claiming to be a client who took the time to complain about my work without taking the time to discuss his or her concerns with me. The matter supposedly handled was the purchase and sale of real estate. The writer refers to the attorney representing the party from whom they bought or sold as opposing counsel. While the attorneys representing buyers and sellers sit on opposite sides at the closing table the purchase and sale of a real estate property need not and should not be an adversarial proceeding. In the area of real estate practice I come across a lot of the same attorneys frequently who likewise handle closings. While I may represent a client once or twice on a real estate transaction I can have many closings with the same attorney as we represent different clients. Maintaining relationships with those attorneys with whom i come into contact on a regular basis is beneficial to my clients. Attorneys with whom I work regularly can be more reasonable in spite of client demands which may or may not be supported by the contract and the facts. If a client has a concern I would hope they would bring it to my attention. If it is a concern that is supported by the contract and facts I always do my best to address it regardless of how well I interact with other lawyers.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
