Find another lawyer.

This is the best lawyer to use if you want to know why people hate lawyers. Arber took money, promised help, did nothing. NYS Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 1.16(e) ("Declining or Terminating Representation") says a lawyer is obligated to "refund promptly any part of a fee paid in advance that h...as not been earned." But the "judicial grievance committee" protects their own. Find another lawyer. Don't use this one.

Represented my ex wife 26 years ago

Mr Arbor was retained by my then wife to represent her in a divorce which I initiated and that my lawyer did all of the work. He consistently didn’t respond to my lawyer who was seeking input to the divorce paperwork that was being drawn up. After multiple non returned calls or emails my lawyer info...rmed him that he was submitting the documents to the courts. At that time the required QDRO was due to be submitted but nothing was done even though it was listed in the divorce paperwork. Fast forward 25 years later and I have attempted to retire but couldn’t due to the missing QDRO. Almost two years ago my now ex-wife contacted him again to retain him to do what was supposed to be done prior to the divorce. When dealing with this whole QDRO issue he moves like a glacier, barely responded to even the company he retained to do the quadro, he failed to include all the relative retirement assets that needed to be in the Quadro. I became involved in attempting to get the QDRO approved and submitted all the checklist retired documents and all he submitted was the incomplete QDRO 6 months after it was completed. The judge rejected it due to the late filing and requested a show for cause as to why it was so late. He verbally assaulted my ex wife when she attempted to get him to act in a timely manner and wanted more money for doing basically nothing. I would not hire this lawyer if he was the last one on earth and from the reviews I have read he has a pattern of this behavior.

Worst attorney around stay away

My experience with Howard B. Arber as my attorney was terrible. He was often unresponsive and vague when I managed to contact him. He missed key deadlines, misfiled important documents, and seemed unprepared for court. Despite charging high fees, the service was subpar. I felt robbed by the end of... the process. I strongly advise against using Howard B. Arber for legal representation.

Took my money but did not give me a bill

I hired Mr. Arber as my attorney. He represented in a criminal case which was ok. He does make promises he can’t keep. I retained him for a additional case which corresponded with the first. He gave me a price verbally of $3500. I gave him $1000 as a retainer so I thought. I asked for a itemized bill... a month later and he got rather nasty. He gave me additional bill of now $5000 asking for more money. He claims he never received my letters of recommendation but they were all sent to me bcc’d. I was called a couple weeks after to be informed I was being charged for “research” even though he claimed he has worked in matter such as my case. He then sent me several threatening emails that he would stop services and take my $1000 but could not prove the work done. I am not defamatory his character. I just trusted his words and it’s hard not to hire a lawyer guy can not trust. Sad actually. Do your research before hiring him he’s too pricey to be gambling with your future.
