Unprofessional

The absolute worst attorney ever Unprepared and unprofessional Only concerned about the retainer and billable hours

Stay away

I retained Mr. Davis to represent me in my child support case. He was extremely unprofessional and unprepared. All he mentioned was his retainer. He does not care about his clients. He never followed up on my case status even after me having to remind him. His response was “the judge is probably lazy...”. All he wants is money from his clients.

A satisfied client

It is my privilege to recommend an excellent lawyer for your choice as your divorce attorney . Mr Jay Davis is compassionate and an extremely skillful attorney. He has superior research skills as well as excellent analytical skills. He is able to process large volumes of information quickly and for...mulate an effective strategy for each individual case. He is very personable and easily gained my trust with me and also many of my friends whom he worked with. I know people who will prefer to work with him exclusively, including myself. He is one of the best legal writers and has written compelling briefs, motions and arguments. He is also a gifted speaker. He has represented myself and I came recommended by many, who felt he represented all in court with skill and professionalism. Mr Jay Davis constantly strives to educate himself and improve his court room techniques . I am pleased to recommend Jay Davis, Esq as the best divorce and family lawyer in Nassau County. He will exceed your expectations.

Worst Attorney Ever...Didn't show up

Took thousands, didn't show up a host of times for court, was late, unprepared, and rude. Failed to listen to instructions, said things he was not supposed to, worked against my case, but harassed me for money. Didn't return calls, or emails, and said negative things against me and my case. I felt li...ke he was actually representing the opposing side and not me. THIS was absolutely the worst experience I ever had with an attorney. He hurt the case by not showing up, prior to me deciding to hire a real attorney who represents MY interests! Fired him. NO STAR would be my choice.

Jay Davis All about the retainer no service

I met him, seemed OK. First gaveme a 20 page retainer agreement and wanted money up front. Came to court late, unprepared, knew nothing about my case. Case transfered to different county by judge. Second meeting, thought I smelled alcohol on hi breath at the hearing. He sat like a zombie, said no...thing, I had to represent myself. When he did talk, he was 100% wrong, and failed to grasp a simple matrimonial concept. The judge thought I was the attorney. He then drafted 3 petitions that were bogus, never filed them, billed me and took the balance of the retainer. I never used him again. Run for the hills with this one. You would be better off pro se.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
