Rachel Elyse Buchter

Rachel Buchter has served in the role of Bureau Chief of Felony Trial Bureau III with the Queens County District Attorney’s Office in Kew Gardens, NY, since 2021. She first joined the Queens District Attorney’s Office in 1998 as an Assistant District Attorney, followed by nearly 13 years as a Senior Assistant District Attorney. She spent two years as the Deputy Bureau Chief of Felony Trial Bureau III before assuming her current position. Rachel Buchter is tasked with the management of all bureau matters, which includes the oversight of two deputy bureau chiefs, up to 23 Assistant District Attorneys, and numerous paralegals and support staff members. She regularly manages around 850 felony cases pending disposition.

Ms. Buchter studied social science with a minor in women’s studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, graduating cum laude. She continued her education at St. John’s Law School in Queens, NY, earning her Juris Doctor degree in 1998. Her professional affiliations include the Assistant District Attorney’s Association of Queens County and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York.
