Let me start by saying I had never in my life had issues with the law. Not even a parking ticket. My child was assaulted and being threatened by a classmate. I reached out to the police and the school for help, with no luck. My child and myself were assaulted by a group of individuals who wore ski... mask. After the incident I would sit for hours in the precinct on different occasions waiting to speak with someone about the two complaints I filed with no luck. I had physical evidence in my favor. The detective on the case arrested me and accused me of assaulting a minor. Saying he had proof. I refused to pled guilty. I refused to take what was being offered to me. Ms. Laing heard me out, looked at my advice and most importantly believed me. Not once did she make me feel that I had to give in to what was being offered. She took the time to explain the legal language. She told me if it went to trail she will fight right with me. At one point I was afraid she would give up on me and walk away. I honestly felt so hopeless. I could had lost my job, I was newly promoted. Everything was at risk for me. I was never pleading guilty to a crime I did not commit. Ms. Laing even took the time to explain to my family the laws and legal language. As they showed up with me in person to court. Not once did she dismiss us. My case never went to trail. It was dismissed, sealed and the order of protection against me was thrown out. I am so grateful it was Ms. Laing who took my case and fought with all she had.
