The jury awarded her estate $3,599,218. Passenger Krystal Powe suffered multiple traumas and died roughly 2 hours after the accident. The jury awarded her estate $8,005,765. The driver, Albert Garner sustained a C6-C7 fracture that rendered him a quadriplegic, plus an epidural hematoma, but he has no cognitive deficits. The jury awarded Garner $51,800,093, the highest Illinois compensatory verdict for personal injury (non-death).
