OUTCOME: Settled well.
Client was illegally held past his release date in prison in defiance of judicial orders. We got a six figure settlement in about nine months.
OUTCOME: Client Aquitted-PO Lifted
Client charged with aggravated domestic battery and under an Order of Protection. With that coming up on his background check, he was unemployable. And under risk of conviction. My strategy at trial le ... d to the prosecution dropping charges and the judge dismissing the case and vacating the OP.
OUTCOME: Took two years off a 14 year sentence
Judge gave client 14 years for falling asleep in a car that wasn't his ("possession of a stolen motor vehicle"). The conviction was outrageous and so was the sentence. Judges almost never grant reducti ... ons of sentence, but I successfully argued he had not correctly applied the sentencing factors, saving my client two years of his life. We'll see if we can do even better on appeal.
OUTCOME: Won complete 100% custody of children for parent.
Client sought 100% custody of his children because their mother, who had kidnapped them for a while, was, to say the least irresponsible. Courts are highly reluctant to award one parent complete custod ... y -- but I got that for him in this case. We are (at this writing) waiting for the court to enter the judgment we won.
OUTCOME: Amazingly low sentence in the circumstances.
Negotiated a plea for revolving-door client so much less than his last sentence that the judge's jaw literally dropped. He checked with the prosecutor to make sure this was actually the deal. I wrote a ... motion to suppress that showed the prosecutor that the most serious charge against the client wouldn't hold water.
OUTCOME: Client and I both both a lot of money in a very short time with a minimum of fuss.
Client wanted to leave his employer because of harassment. He wasn't fired. He wanted to quit. He was being discriminated against. I negotiated a substantial though confidential settlement without any ... litigation at all in a few weeks.
OUTCOME: Charge dismissed.
Client charged with aggravated domestic battery because she defended herself with a knife (no injury) against a much larger abusive partner. Conviction could have ended her career dreams.
OUTCOME: Deadlock on most serious charge, conviction on least. With time served less than a year on a possible 10 year sentence.
Client was charged with both prongs of aggravated battery on a transit worker: insulting and provoking contact, and contact causing bodily harm. He had a previous agg batt on a cop, so this was real fo ... r him. I got the jury to deadlock on the bodily harm prong, but the convicted (I think wrongly) on the other. Still, it's a lot less serious. Sentencing is coming up. I'm hoping for a lenient outcome.
OUTCOME: Avoided disastrous conviction, negotiated short sentence
Negotiated a plea for a relatively short sentence that kept client from being convicted of predatory sexual assault on a child under 13 -- of which he was, in fact, innocent. That may save his life in ... prison.
OUTCOME: Default judgment vacated well after 30 days.
Cloient had ignored a lawsuit against him for over $25K and gotten a default judgment against him, which he also ignored. After 30 days such judgments are hard to vacate, but I persuaded the judge it s ... hould be because we had a good case an an oppressive judgment
