Changing status is always safer in terms you are in the US.
Form I-864 "Is your current mailing address the same as your physical address"- If "Yes", leave Physical Address blank or "N/A"?

If you do not have a passport they cannot put a stamp, unless you have some other travel document. Also, be prepared for lengthy deferred...

The best reason is that you decided to study because....You need to meet with an attorney. You should be able to answer this question.

To qualify for F2, your husband has to be in F1 without any issues, like gaps, etc.
