Kawan Andrew Lovelace

I became a civil rights attorney because I saw the system fail people from the inside.

For 8 years I worked as an NYPD detective. For 2 years after that I prosecuted cases in the Bronx. I watched how arrests get made, how reports get written to justify questionable stops, how the city's legal team works to protect officers whose conduct was indefensible. I saw how Black and brown New Yorkers, the same communities I come from, bore the weight of a system that was supposed to serve them.
So I switched sides.

I founded Lovelace Law PLLC in 2021 in Long Island City, Queens to represent the people the system tried to silence. I represent victims of false arrest, police brutality, wrongful arrest, racial profiling, illegal search and seizure, and civil rights violations throughout Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, and all five boroughs of New York City.

Before the law, I competed as an Olympic athlete. That experience taught me what it takes to prepare harder than everyone else and refuse to quit. I bring that same mindset to every case I take.

I am admitted to practice in New York State. I am a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. I handle every civil rights case on a contingency fee basis. You pay nothing unless I win.
