I have been a trial lawyer for over 27 years, and during that period I have had success at every level of the Federal and State Criminal Justice Systems. As a prosecutor in the office of Robert Morgenthau, the Manahttan DA's Office, I tried Murder cases, including one against William Kuntsler and Ronald Kuby that was broadcast on Court TV, and I became a supervisor before leaving to join the Department of Justice. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York I focused on complex white collar and securities fraud cases. I successfully prosecuted two C.E.O.s of publicly traded companies, as well as a defendant who ran the largest stolen car "chop shop" in the eastern United States. I investigated and indicted David H. Brooks, whose company manufactured body armor for the U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, for securities fraud and obstruction of justice.
I handled appeals in the Appellate Division, the New York Court of Appeals, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
At Garfunkel Wild I have defended individuals accused of fraud, sex offenses, and DWI in the federal and state courts. None of my clients have been sentenced to prison, and I have obtained numerous dismissals and/or acquittals of criminal charges.
