Jill Kathryn Sanders

Jill K. Sanders is a highly accomplished criminal defense attorney and litigator. Throughout her career, Ms. Sanders has worked on a wide variety of legal cases, from traffic tickets to homicides. She also specializes in working with clients who have concurrent criminal cases, family offenses, and matrimonial matters to ensure a seamless continuity of representation. In addition to court appearances and trials, Ms. Sanders is skilled at legal research and the preparation of motions, briefs, and legal memoranda. A “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” she has a reputation for being a passionate advocate for her clients both inside and outside the courtroom.

Ms. Sanders has argued before several of the state’s appellate courts as well as the New York State Court of Appeals, and she has extensive experience in litigating matters related to sex offender registration. During the 2010s, she was at the forefront of litigation relating to the unlawful incarceration of persons convicted of sex offenses past their release dates from prison. Today, Ms. Sanders continues to represent those charged with sex offenses as well as persons required to register in New York relating to post-conviction collateral issues.

Previously, Ms. Sanders worked at the Center for Appellate Litigation in Manhattan. She previously interned with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey, as well as the Post-Conviction Project at John Jay Legal Services, Inc. at Pace University.
