Stephen Gerard Tomann

Stephen Tomann was contracted by the real estate seller in the property that my business purchased this year. My contract stated that we were responsible for paying seller's attorney fees, and this is the 2nd or 3rd time we've worked with Mr. Tomann and the same seller. The seller would regularly com...plain about his attorney to me. In the last refinance closing, Mr. Tomann supplied payoff balances on 4 private mortgages that our refinance was to pay off. At the closing, I spotted that all of the payoff amounts looked suspiciously incorrect, and the entire closing party spent about 30 minutes tracking down the amortization schedules and payment history. Upon rough calculation, it was confirmed that all payoff amounts were wrong and the seller would have to reimburse me after redoing the math offsite the next day. Needless to say, the seller's attorney, Mr Tomann was not present at the closing. This experience doesn't give one a lot of confidence when I am being overcharged with inaccurate closing amounts -- and not in my favor of course, all the while I am having to pay for the privilege for this ineptitude with a calculator. When our financial controller called Mr. Tomann's office to request a W9 form for filing 1099's with the IRS, Mr. Tomann was rude and flat out refused to fill out the form and abruptly hung up the phone. That's when I stepped in. Mr. Tomann was rude to me and continued to refuse to send a W9 tax form. My lawyer was able to procure a W9 form from him since they work together quite frequently.
