Knowledgable and Professional in Every Way

Based entirely on my experience as a corporate lawyer involved in a difficult divorce, I can heartily recommend Michele Bermel. Anyone considering Ms. Bermel or any other lawyer should realize that when there’s acrimony in a divorce, one or both sides will take any and every opportunity to blame the... lawyer for their personal issues. That seems to be the norm. Family law requires a lawyer who not only knows every nuance of the applicable legal issues, but who can also rise above the emotional rancor that poisons the process. Michele is that person. She’s an excellent lawyer and you can safely ignore the misplaced criticism in some of her reviews. Some people will never accept the fact that they are responsible for the problems in their lives, not Ms. Bermel. Rest assured she is a credit to her profession in every way.

Would not recommend

I am writing this review based on my experience with Michele, who was appointed as my children’s attorney during my divorce and custody proceedings. At the suggestion of my ex-husband and my attorneys at the time, we retained Michele to represent the interests of our three children. Unfortunately,... my experience was extremely disappointing. Michele had lengthy interviews with each of my children, yet during court proceedings she was unable to remember basic information about them, including their correct ages. I found this particularly concerning given her role and the amount of time she had spent speaking with them. I also felt that Michele’s advocacy was heavily weighted in favor of my ex-husband rather than focused on what was truly in the best interests and well-being of our children. I was particularly concerned by the close relationship she appeared to have with my ex-husband’s attorney, as well as the way information was communicated to her during the proceedings. There were also instances in which my son contacted Michele directly regarding allegations about things I had supposedly done. I did not feel these communications were handled in a way that appropriately considered the circumstances or protected my child from being placed in the middle of the conflict between his parents. Ultimately, I did not feel that Michele adequately advocated for the emotional well-being or best interests of my children. My attorneys ultimately requested that she be removed from the case, and we ultimately hired new attorneys to represent the children. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Michele to other parents seeking an attorney to independently represent their children during a contentious custody proceeding.

A Force for Your Children

If you are facing a contentious custody situation, you need an immovable force who will stand up for your children when neither parent can see past their own rage. Michele Bermel was precisely that advocate for my kids. My spouse did everything in his power to sway all legal forces against me, incl...uding using his business relationships. Michele made sure her clients - my kids - were protected from his attempts to manipulate them. Take her hand, trust her decades of experience, and rest easy knowing your children are in the care of the absolute best in the field.

Best Children's Lawyer

Ms. Bermel was thoroughly dedicated to my son and daughter and very available at all times. Her knowledge of custody and visitation and parenting in general is amazing. Even my ex admitted that she was terrific. I strongly recommend her.

Excellent and impartial

I’ve had the wonderful experience working with Ms. Bermel through a terrible custody situation. Ms. Bermel remained impartial, transparent and honest throughout the process. What I most remember is how much the Court respected her for her clarity, fine judgement and impartiality. I would turn to her ...again for any counsel - legal or otherwise.
